Youth

“WE LOVED YOU SO MUCH THAT WE SHARED WITH YOU NOT ONLY GOD’S GOOD NEWS BUT OUR OWN LIVES, TOO.”
- 1 THESSALONIANS 2:8

In everything we do, we are on a mission to ensure that every student we meet knows that someone who loves Jesus loves them. We want them to experience hope, belonging and growth but none of that happens well without being known. We care too much to share less than an authentic life. We do that through weekly gatherings, regular retreats and targeted leadership development.

YOUTH WEEKLY

We meet weekly to create a place where students experience hope and belonging. Our whole night is shaped so that every student would know that someone who loves Jesus loves them, so it looks a little different than your average gathering. Each week we eat together, do an activity as one big group, hear from someone in our community for 5-8 minutes, spend 20-30 minutes in small groups and finish with open time. 5-7 PM Sunday evenings during the school year.

YOUTH RETREATS

In the life of Jesus, we often see gathered times of eating, teaching, walking—sharing life together. There are also times when he and his close people would pull away from the standard (often chaotic) rhythms of life for special moments. We call this retreat. We have many retreats different retreats throughout the year that help us experience hope and growth. You can find our next retreat in the calendar below.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP

Do you know who is worth listening to? You, our students. Jesus led his followers to become the most true versions of themselves. There are many complex aspects to identity, and we believe that you possess essential and beautiful elements in your identity. We are all on a journey to grow and refine our identity and influence. From our DEEPER sessions to summer youth internships, and the student leadership team, we hope to partner with you on this journey.

REV. JOSH SMITH

Youth Pastor

Is it wrong to say I love my life? I have an amazing job, family and God. Not every day or moment is amazing but I have so many things to be thankful for. Starting with Lauren, Essie and a baby coming soon.

My path to fully embracing my faith unfolded unexpectedly toward the end of my business degree when everything I was trying to do left me knowing that there was something beyond myself. Finding and embracing the way of Jesus has guided me into and through a life I love. I went on to complete my Master of Divinity and joined the staff team at Kingswood University. In Spring 2020, I officially joined the staff team here at Lewisville as youth pastor.

I am very passionate and curious, which means I can get obsessively into almost anything (except mayo, never liked that stuff). Whether it is reading fantasy or nonfiction, enjoying third-wave coffee or slow food, playing basketball or boardgames, finding the best beach or best sparkling water flavour - I love learning new things, working with people and making lists.

YOUTH SAFETY

We take the safety and well-being of your young people very seriously. Every one of our youth leaders has undergone a background check and is trained in best practices for the protection of all parties. If you have any further questions about measures we take to ensure the safety of every young person or want to contact us about some specific needs surrounding your child, do email us: josh@lewisville.church
